Standard ISO 9001 presents by itself one of the models of organization activity management for the purpose of realization of efectiveness.
Application of the approches of ISO 9001 in the management systems of enterprises helps to solve a lot of inner and outer problems:
- to improve the quality of products and services thereby to increase the contentment of the customer;
- to become competitive at home and foreign markets;
- to realize the products at world prices;
- to adjust the collaboration with the foreign parters (in particuar receipt of the investments);
- to gain an advantage over the compatitiors during participation in tenders;
- to provide transparence and easiness of organization activity management;
- to implement the mechanism of constant improvement of management system and to increase the effectiveness of work of employees of all leveles.
Internal results that will be received by the organization due to the implementation of the quality management system depend directly on efforts that it makes to improve its activity. External advantages are received by the organization by means of certification of its quality management system in the independent competent certification body.
The basis of standards on quality management system is built on eight principles:
- Customer orientation
- Leadership
- Attraction of employees
- Process approach
- System approach to the management
- Constant improvement
- decision making on basis of facts
- mutually beneficial relationships with the supplier
One of the key-principle of creation of quality management system according to the ISO 9001 is process approach: activity of the organization consists of number of interdependent processes. Thus the output data of one process are the iput data for another one. Therefore the process approach lies in the systematic activity on identification of processes, their sequence and interaction, process management and connections betweens them.
According to the requirements of ISO 9001 to create the quality management system the organization should:
- to define the processes, necessary for quality management system and their application to the organization in whole;
- to define the sequence and interaction of these processes;
- to define the criteria and methods, necessary for effective operation of these processes and their management;
- to provide the presence of resources and information, necessary for operation and monitoring of these processes;
- to perform control, measurement and analysis of these processes;
- to perform actions, necessary for achievement of predesigned results and constant improvement of these processes.
Requirements of the standard ISO 9001 have the general character and do not foresee provision of uniformity of structure of quality management system or uniformity of documentation, because they are applied to the activity of any organization depending on its type, size and manufactured products (servises that are rendering.)
The Text of ISO 9001 does not contain the requirements to other management systems (ecological management, safety techniques and operational safety, financial management), but allows organization to integrate its quality management system with the corresponding requirements of the general management system.
The Development of the requirements of ISO 9001 is standard ISO 9004 that is not indended for the certification purposes. Requirements of ISO 9004 are being reccomended as guidance for the organization that wants to supersede the requirements of ISO 9001 for the purpose of improvement: the conception of ISO 9001 is intended for achievement of assigned goals and fulfilment of provisions of ISO 9004 allows achieve these goals with higher effectiveness.
